This project has been going on for almost seven years, with the earthwork portion of the work spread across seven different contracts we have executed for Shea Homes. Fiore moved about 10 million total CY of dirt at 30,000 CY per day. Our trucking crews hauled 250,000 CY of cobble conglomerate material to a stockpile location, which was then processed by a crushing company. We used Class 6 Road Base for the composite under all of the development’s roads, screened and placed 6” cobble for existing gulch improvements, and used screened sand byproduct as bedding under all the utilities we placed. The Canyons development has doubled the size of Castle Pines, with approx 2,000 new homes and over 500 acres of newly developed land.
